About the role

⭐ Full-time ⭐ Flexible hours ⭐Tallinn, Estonia

We’re looking for a passionate Head of Large-Scale Stack Design to join our team at Stargate Hydrogen. You will take a leading role in megawatt-class stack design and be part of a team that works on developing unique green hydrogen solutions.

We have high demands on the quality and reliability of the solutions we offer to our customers and we are looking for a stack engineer who has experience in the design of components and modules.

What does the day-to-day look like in this role?

  • Design and develop large scale stack (>5 MW) components and modules, considering their assembly tools, techniques, and manufacturing.

  • Oversee simulations of stack modules using Finite Element Method (FEM) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis.

  • Act as the technical point of contact for suppliers of stack components, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

  • Perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and root cause analysis to identify and address potential issues.

  • Propose innovative manufacturing methods, emphasizing scalability, cost reduction, and reproducibility.

Must-have qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrochemical Engineering) or a related field.

  • Proven experience in designing and developing large electrolysis stacks (above 100kW), preferably in a similar industry (e.g., hydrogen production, energy, or clean technology).

  • Experience with large footprint (>2m) components and devices.

  • Strong technical and analytical skills, with the ability to perform FMEA and root cause analysis effectively.

  • Experience with pressure equipment design.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and processes, with an emphasis on scalability, cost optimization, and reproducibility.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • Experience with megawatt-class energy devices: engine, turbine, compressor or similar system.

  • Knowledge of compositive materials, including their use and manufacturing.
